NOAA's National Integrated Drought Information System (NIDIS) and the University of Colorado-Boulder's Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences at (CIRES) are seeking a Regional Drought Information Systems Coordinator to serve as a Southern Plains regional source of information for federal agency partners, tribes, states, municipalities, partner academic institutions, and other organizations on drought early warning, forecasting and outlooks, and mitigation and response planning.

Key responsibilities include developing and expanding the team of partners who support drought early warning activities in the Southern Plains; developing mechanisms to integrate drought planning efforts with monitoring/forecasting activities; and advancing the integration of drought research with adaptation and drought resilience efforts to better manage water resources, reduce vulnerabilities, and mitigate drought impacts.

Depending on the selected candidate’s preferred location, this position may be located at NIDIS headquarters in Boulder, Colorado; or in Texas and hosted remotely by one of two regional partners: the Meadows Center for Water and the Environment (San Marcos, Texas), or the Southern Regional Climate Center (College Station, Texas).
