This article showcases how water conservation efforts put into place out of necessity helped stabilized California's Central Coast water supply for farmers while other areas still struggle from serious drought conditions. It goes to show that by taking measures to address soil health and switching up irrigation methods producers can secure a farming future. I added a quote from the article below, but visit the link to read the full article. Sounds like a soil for water success story to me.

Central Coast farmers don’t routinely flood crops several times each season, a common practice in the Central Valley. Instead, most local farms now use drip irrigation. The technique delivers a drink directly to plants through a drip line, placed at or right above a root system. Peixoto estimates that the amount of water used to flood a single crop just once can nourish a drip-irrigated crop from seeds to harvest.
