I recently received a question during the Soil for Water Film Premiere with Panel Discussion on February 17, and I wanted to share some resources based on the question. TH wrote, “what are some resources related to silvopasture protocols?”

For silvopasture systems, listen to NCAT Sustainable Agriculture Specialist Katherine Favor as she talks with silvopasture specialist Delie Wilkens to discuss the basics of silvopasture on the ATTRA Voices from the Field Podcast, Episode 235, Silvopasture 101. Cornell offers some good ideas in Six Key Principles for a Successful Silvopasture. Forages, forests and livestock: Creating a synergistic system though silvopasture is an article by Morning Ag Clips that offers a series of videos on silvopasture including establishment and management. Silvopasture: Integrating Trees, Forages and Livestock has some advice for selecting plants, tree layout, and establishment. Advancing on-farm understanding and application of silvopasture technologies in Pennsylvania is a SARE Project report that includes fact sheets, multimedia, and a case study. Silvopasture: Establishment and management principles for pine forests is a great guide to establishing and managing silvopasture in the Southeastern United States. Finally, the US Forest Service, Natural Resource Conservation Service, the National Agroforestry Center, and the University of Georgia have developed a Silvopasture Training Course with downloadable PDF reading material and presentations.

Thanks so much Lee for posting all this information! These are EXACTLY the type of resources I need as I contemplate silvopasture for my operation. You saved me a bunch of time googling around by posting so many good resources in one place! Much appreciation to you!
