I just saw this video by NRCS South Dakota on year-round grazing which I thought was well done. View it at:
. The principles of year-round grazing in the video include:

1. Manage your grass.
2. For rapid recovery, leave at least 1,000 lbs/ac of residue.
3. Hit pastures at different times and intensities.
4. Calve with mother nature.
5. There's a time and a place to feed.
6. Have a plan but stay flexible.
7. Find a mentor.

Thanks, Justin, for sharing this inspiring video! There's a lot of solid advice here from ranchers with years of practical experience on improving profits, happiness, soil health and livestock performance by focusing on good grass management!

Cool video testimony! I know I’d love to ditch the tractor and hay equipment in the summer time. The difficult part for us to let go has been having as many head as we can on our place, because surely that means more profitability. I’ve assumed you have to decrease your herd size if you want to have more stockpiled forages through the winter. But around 10:10 in this video, he talks about how they’ve been able ton increase the number of head in their year-round grazing system. How can that be?
